1 MODULE

RML Rod Shear Coupler (T34, T78, T100, T118)

Revelation Management LTD (RML) and KhalidX Energy are pleased to introduce the new RML Rod Shear Coupler (available in sizes T34, T78, T100, and T118) for artificial lift sucker-rod systems.

The Rod Shear Coupler is currently in the development stage by INTECHNO Oil Service Corporation using proprietary and non-standard engineering solutions and design approaches. To protect the invention prior to patent disclosure, certain internal components and technical details have been intentionally hidden. We appreciate your understanding. A general representation of the product is provided to illustrate the overall design concept and operating principles. All marketing and sales rights are exclusively granted to RML.

Stable Shear-Off

Precise disconnection at specified tensile load (±10% deviation)

6-Inch Fishing Cylinder

Allows overshot & jars to latch and retrieve stuck plungers

Torque Resistant

Prevents disconnection during clockwise/counterclockwise rotation

Key Engineering Highlights

Its unique design provides:

  1. Stable shear-off at a specified tensile load: For example, 22,000 lbs (10 tons) for a 7/8-inch rod diameter, with an allowable deviation from the specified value of only ±10%.
  2. Integrated fishing cylinder: At least 6 inches (15 cm) long in case disconnection occurs at the Rod Shear Coupler while the plunger remains inside the barrel. In this case, an overshot and jars can be run to latch onto the fishing cylinder and retrieve the plunger by applying impact loads.
  3. Proprietary high-torque resistance: An engineering trade secret that resists high torque when rotating the rod string clockwise or counterclockwise, preventing accidental disconnection.
  4. Zero downhole debris: Engineered with no debris or loose components that could fall off during shear-off and cause complications in the wellbore.

Customer Technical Requirements

  • Controlled Tensile Disconnection: Disconnects when a client-specified tensile load is applied (e.g., 22,000 lbs / 10 tons for 7/8-inch rod diameter, ±10%).
  • Retrieval Assurance: Must have a fishing cylinder at least 6 inches (15 cm) long in case disconnection occurs at the Rod Shear Coupler while the plunger remains inside the barrel. In this case, an overshot and jars can be run to latch onto the fishing cylinder and retrieve the plunger by applying impact loads.
  • Bidirectional Rotation Integrity: When rotating the rod string clockwise or counterclockwise, the Rod Shear Coupler must prevent disconnection due to high torque.
  • Debris-Free Operation: No debris that could fall off during shear-off and cause complications.

Economic & Environmental Advantages

  • Superior Performance & Competitive Pricing: Outperforms existing solutions in technical parameters while remaining economically competitive in purchase and refurbishment cost.
  • Economical Refurbishment: After shear-off, the Rod Shear Coupler may be refurbished, subject to inspection, with refurbishment costs significantly lower than the cost of a new unit.
  • Reduced Environmental Footprint: Reusing previously deployed components reduces material consumption and manufacturing demand, thereby lowering the overall environmental footprint.
